Taiwan

Taiwan is a small island nationwith contemporary cities, hot springs resorts and dramatic mountainous terrain. It isofficially theRepublic of China andasovereign stateinEast Asia. The Republic of China, originally based inmainland China, now governs theisland of Taiwan, which constitutes more than 99% of its territory,as well asPenghu,Kinmen,Matsu, andother minor islands, following its loss of the mainland China territory in 1949 in theChinese Civil War. This remaining area is also constitutionallycalled the "Free area of the Republic of China" which is not ruled by theCommunist Party of Chinain Beijing.
